BIAW’s Excellence in Remodeling Awards celebrate beauty and innovation
From kitchens to bathrooms to entire homes, the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) celebrated its 2022 Excellence in Remodeling Awards at Skamania Lodge earlier this month.
Clark County’s Renew Design + Build won the award for Entire House $200,001 – $400,000 – Third Time’s A Charm.
About this project
This project marked the third time Renew Design + Build had the pleasure of working with these clients. With a well-established relationship, they had a blast bringing the interior of this 1960s home up to date while integrating several original design elements.
The major focus of this project? Creating a more efficient kitchen design within the existing footprint. To increase storage and access to every corner of the space, the team changed the layout of the appliances, removed the double-wall ovens and pantry and added more cabinets. White herringbone tiles run from counter to ceiling. New white cabinetry and countertops with a waterfall edge tie the kitchen together.
The team also completely reoriented the master suite to better fit the clients’ lifestyles. After removing the unused large soaking tub in the bathroom, they added new cabinetry and a makeup table to offer more storage and usability. They then dramatically increased the footprint of the shower, installing a window for natural light and adding an intricate tile design on the back wall.
Not to be forgotten, the fireplace, main living space and laundry area all received updates to give the entire house a fresh and bright appearance. View and download photos of the project.
About the Excellence in Remodeling Awards
A highlight of the association’s summer board meeting, the awards recognized the top remodelers across 25 different categories.
Winners faced fierce competition with 57 entries vying for the top 25 awards. Members from six local home-building associations battled it out for top honors.
Industry experts reviewed and scored each project based on aesthetics, special or unique design solutions, quality craftsmanship, appropriate building materials, budgetary considerations and the challenges the project’s design requirements faced.
