Three new on-demand education offerings and new job board

In partnership with BIAW, we are proud to announce the following two updates:

On-demand Education

The COVID-19 pandemic has driven a new desire for on-line, on-demand education and we are delivering! We’ve recently partnered with BIAW and three organizations to offer a variety of courses at a discount or free to members:

  1. MindEdge: MindEdge offers a wide range of business-related courses designed to help members and their employees expand their skill sets and earn professional credits. Their professional development and certificate courses are self-paced and online, accessible from anywhere and available on mobile.
  2. MT Copeland: MT Copeland provides on-demand classes on construction fundamentals with real-world applications, like building cabinets or how to read blueprints. MT Copeland offers several classes, taught by skilled craftspeople, at a discount to BIAW members. They also provide supplementary downloads like quizzes, blueprints, and other materials to help employees master the skills.
  3. Simpson Strong-Tie Builder Learning Center: The Simpson Strong-Tie Builder Learning Center meets the training needs of builders with curated training like Building Code Basics or Introduction to Residential Cost Estimating. On their builder-specific learning center, members may select a delivery option that best suits their needs. Self-paced, online courses provide a flexible option for busy schedules. On-demand installation videos and their Product Installer’s Guide allow people to view installation instructions for their most common products refreshing best practices on the jobsite.

Job Board

Construction faces an ongoing shortage of skilled labor. According to the Employment Security Department, the industry is projected to add 10,300 jobs from 2018 to 2023 and another 3,400 jobs from 2023 to 2028.

Recognizing this, we have made Workforce Development a priority. BIAW recently established a relationship with CompanyWide. CompanyWide is a Boston-based company that helps connect students and skilled tradespeople with with construction companies seeking to hire quality workers on an easy-to-use online hiring platform.

Members can post jobs for free and instantly browse resumes of job seekers looking for work. Jobseekers can also post resumes and look for work for free. Additionally, CompanyWide has a portal for teachers to help their students develop training plans and post jobs. There are also special programs for new tradespeople and veterans.
